Successful Charity Project: “Compassion Library”

[:en]In March 2014, Oriental Sails Company finished a meaningful charity project for poor children in Mong Duong, Cam Pha, Quang Ninh Province, roughly 230 kilometers from Hanoi. The charity project titled “Compassion Library” – granted essential and useful books to poor children at Nguyen Trai elementary school, Ben Van.

/10, Mong Duong, Cam Pha. Oriental Sails Company along with many friends and partners were complementing the project by prepare books, notebooks, stationeries and organized a trip to give them directly to the pool children at their school on March 15, 2014. Since the very first days when Oriental Sails launched the project, they did received a lot of supports and donations from individuals and companies, who knew about the charity project via press or official communication channels of Oriental Sails. Several days before the project, all worked extremely hard and tried their best to prepare for a special day in Mong Duong village.

The trip to Mong Duong villages was a find stop for this project, providing the whole company’s staffs unforgettable memory to witness poor condition of the children and their sparkling happiness when they received the books from the project. It’s actually an amazing trip for those who are working in Halong tourism.

The road leading us to the schools of the poor children are quite long, roughly 230 km. The company received a warm greeting and welcome from local authorities, Chief of Educational and Training Department of Cam Pha city, representatives of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, teachers and pupils of 3 school spots in Mong Duong Village.

 

The charity group reached Ben Van elementary school (the main destination of the charity program) on a specialized truck. Though it was only a 4-kilometer road, it took over 1 hour to reach the school. Normally, there are only 2 ways to approach Ben Van School, one is walking with waterproof boots, and the other is by truck with a special designed chassis to get through muddy paths. People say that electricity has reached here for 1 year, but there’s still no telecommunication network.

Here 100 percent of population is minority people, who are living in very poor condition, with extremely inconvenient transportation. There is only 1 trip of truck from Ben Van to Dong Mo weekly, so local people contribute money for petro to go to the centre to buy essential stuffs. The poverty is even harsher due to many children.

 

It’s definite that Oriental Sails would return this poor area soon, to help more children and provide them with more meaningful lessons for your life in upcoming future. They are the fresh buds of the country, the bright future of Mong Duong village. Oriental Sails would try our best to implement more and more practical project like this to bring more happiness to the locals, especially poor children.

Sustainable Tourism is a popular concept for recent years and also the motto of Oriental Sails and other travel company in Halong. Concerning about community is a way to maintain sustainable tourism that Oriental Sails is pursuing.
